QR Scanner & Generator Privacy Policy
Developer: RB Apps ยท Effective 5 October 2026
QR Scanner & Generator ("the app") scans and creates QR codes and barcodes on your Android device. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: the developer does not collect, receive, store on any server, or share any personal data. Scanning happens on your device, and the app has no ads and no accounts. The app's own code does not send your scans or any other data anywhere.
Camera
The app asks for camera access only to detect QR codes and barcodes. Camera images are analysed live on your device and are not saved, recorded or sent anywhere. You can turn the camera permission off at any time in Android Settings > Apps > QR Scanner > Permissions.
Scan history and created codes
If the app keeps a history of the codes you scanned or created, that history is stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. You can delete items or clear the history in the app, and uninstalling the app removes it. Codes you create can be saved as an image to your device's Pictures folder (in a folder called QR Scanner) or shared through the standard Android share sheet; when you share, the app only hands the image to the app you choose and does not see where it goes.
Opening scan results
A scanned link, phone number, e-mail, contact or location is opened in another app (for example your browser or dialer) only when you choose to open it. The app can ask you to confirm before opening a link (Settings > Confirm links before opening). What those other apps and websites do with your information is covered by their own privacy policies.
Google ML Kit and Google Play services
Barcode detection uses Google's ML Kit Barcode Scanning, which runs on your device through Google Play services. The scanned content stays on your device. As described in Google's ML Kit data disclosure, ML Kit may send Google limited technical information about the library's use: device model and OS version, the app's package name and version, performance metrics such as latency, event types and error codes, and a per-installation identifier that is not intended to identify you personally. Google uses this to operate and improve ML Kit under the Google Privacy Policy. The developer does not receive this data.
No ads, accounts or analytics
The app is free and shows no ads. It has no sign-in and includes no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of its own, and the app's own code makes no network connections.
Permissions
- Camera: to scan codes.
- Vibrate: for the optional vibration when a code is detected (can be turned off in Settings).
- Internet and network state: declared by Google's ML Kit library, which uses it to fetch its barcode model through Google Play services and to send the technical information described above. The app does not use this access to send your scanned content.
Children
The app is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Your choices
You can clear the history, turn off the beep, vibration and link confirmation in Settings, revoke the camera permission in Android Settings, or uninstall the app to remove all of its data from your device.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
